I can't express how powerful this read was. Although I remember you mentioning this exact advice in our class at UofT, this was such a great refresher during these stressful days leading up to my residency interviews. Your efforts are incredibly inspiring, and I love how you break things down for young professionals like myself. I especially liked how you differentiated between "outputs" and "outcomes", and your strategy of going "right to left" when trying to solve a problem.

Love that you bring up environment. I am taking journey with “environment” this year. Giving it the kind of examination that only I can give. How does it serve me physically, intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. My observation is this one area people tend to think “is what it is: without delving into how they create theirs. This year I am on a mission to learn as much about mine and how I can and am effectively creating it to nurture my growth.

Your clarity once again Peter shines through. I found a problem and we have been in action since being selected as a Grand Challenges Canada Stars in Global Health grant recipient to solve it. And solving it we have been doing. Now in talks to deliver our innovative menstrual health product, the Bfree Cup, to schoolgirls throughout Botswana and Ghana (a rocket ship opportunity) after our similar successes in Uganda, what you say Peter hits many of the relevant points, especially so about mentorship. After all these years of perseverance, partnership building and successes, we still need help and mentorship, especially so at this time of growth. I welcome an opportunity to chat.

All the best to you in 2025, a new year to focus on getting important stuff done.

Dear Peter Singer,

Appreciate your valuable input.

Thanks for reminding me the special case of ethics in leadership, based on my United Nations career history, including the WHO.

Below are 3 High-Priority Problems to Solve :

1. Capacity Gaps and Pilot Inconsistency at the Point of Delivery

Why It Matters: Pilot success means little if community clinics, ministries, and field teams can’t replicate it. Variability leads to exclusion, poor quality, and resource waste.

2. Ambiguity in Accountability & Fragmented Oversight

Why It Matters: Lack of clear accountability kills scale. Scaling requires not just tech, but shared trust in how decisions and data move.

3. Risk Exposure Due to Lack of Data Protection and Consent Protocols

Why It Matters: Scaling without safeguards invites backlash, legal risk, and community rejection. Trust is not a “nice to have”—it’s foundational.

My Strategic Problem- Solving approach includes :

- Function First Transformation

- Resource-Conscious Innovation

- Results Through Systems Thinking : embedding circular logic, data sovereignty, and community-centered KPIs into operational workflows

With best regards

Tiana Randriantsoa

As always Peter remarkable unafraid presentation of the advice that so many young people desperately need to hear. I would not have been a Schwarzman Scholar and opened my mind to push myself in the policy world without your valuable insights. Good inspiration to look for my next rocketship :D
